Cocoon 2013

The human life-cycle is a series of stages through which we morph childhood, middle, and old age. These times of transitions are marked by profound insights and experiences. This transitional state of being is what I sought to capture in this installation.
The cocoons I have created represent my growth as a woman. Like a sheltering chrysalis that envelopes a transitioning being, the husk is discarded when the transformed being emerges whole and new.
